Coushatta Casino Resort Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Cake-Cutting Ceremony with Native Tribal Dance Performances
January 22, 2015
Kinder, LA—Coushatta Casino Resort, owned and operated by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, celebrated its 20th anniversary January 16, 2015. Tribal Chairman Lovelin Poncho, members of the Tribal Council, and casino management celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony and special performances by tribal dancers in the casino’s Mikko Showroom.
During his remarks, Chairman Lovelin Poncho shared his thoughts about the concept of opening a casino. “What could I do to give my people a better life, better education and better economic conditions for the Coushatta Tribe?” He continued, “When the casino opened, I didn’t realize what an impact it would have on the Tribe and Allen Parish.”
Coushatta Casino Resort is continuing to build and improve its facilities for its guests with the addition of Seven Clans Hotel and the Dream Pool, completed in 2012, and renovation of The Grand Hotel, scheduled to reopen in Spring 2015.
The 20th anniversary celebrations continued throughout the weekend. On Saturday night, January 17, Reba McEntire performed a sold out concert in The Pavilion at Coushatta. On Sunday, January 18, the casino held cash giveaways totaling $80,000 with $2,000 drawings every 20 minutes from 3:00pm until 10:00pm, and two grand prize drawings at 9:40pm and 10:00pm for $20,000 each.
