Anniversary Events Continued with Cole Swindell Concert, $100,000 Cash & Cadillac® Giveaway and More
January 22, 2018
KINDER, LA—On Friday, January 19, Coushatta Casino Resort, owned and operated by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, kicked off its 23rd anniversary celebrations with an elegant cake-cutting ceremony that featured performances by Native American dancers and drummers. The ceremony began with drummers and singers performing the Flag Song for Grand Entry, followed by a breath-taking rendition of the Lord’s Prayer in Native American sign language by Coushatta Princesses Jaine Fisher and Megan Fuselier. The program continued with individual dance demonstrations of Men’s Grass Dance, Fancy Dance, Traditional, and Women’s Fancy Shawl and Southern Cloth, accompanied by songs from the drummers and singers.
After the dance demonstrations, each member of the Coushatta Tribal Council and Interim General Manager Greg Raynor addressed the audience in turn. Tribal Chairman David Sickey’s heartfelt statements focused on the original vision of a casino and gratitude toward tribal elders for their determination to ensure a better future for their people, and by doing so, for the entire community as well. Sickey stated, “Right here in the middle of what was once a rice field, we have created an economic force, an opportunity for thousands to have a better life. Each day, this place and the people who work here and play here personally touch the lives of every member of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and of Southwest Louisiana as well. Truly, it is all of you, more than anything else, that we celebrate and honor.”
Anniversary events continued Saturday night, January 20, with Country music’s rising star, multi-platinum recording artist COLE SWINDELL performing in The Pavilion at 8pm. The 23rd Anniversary Cash & Cadillac® Giveaway took place Sunday, January 21, with cash and prizes totaling over $100,000. During the giveaway on Sunday, hourly cash drawings were held from 4pm until 7pm, and the two Cadillac® grand prizes were awarded at 8pm and 9pm.
The casino also offers anniversary promotions that continue during the entire month of January, including 2X points on slots every Monday, discounted room rates and green fees, and extra entertainment: bands playing in the casino’s nightclub, Mikko Live, Thursday through Sunday with no cover charge.
