May 30, 2018
The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana’s 17th Annual Chairman’s Cup charity golf tournament held Thursday, May 17, was another huge success, raising over $200,000 for charity––exceeding last year’s largest-ever total by more than $38,000.
“What a great day to have a golf tournament here at Kosati Pines, to help raise funds for the Chairman’s Cup Foundation,” commented Coushatta Tribal Chairman David Sickey. “This has been an exciting event! I would like to thank all of our sponsors who participated in the tournament. This year we raised over $200,000 to benefit several local and regional charity organizations,” he concluded.
The Chairman’s Cup golf tournament is an annual charity fundraiser hosted by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and held at Koasati Pines at Coushatta, the resort’s award-winning championship golf course. Tournament players attended a pre-tournament meet-and-greet luau at the resort’s popular Dream Pool on Wednesday night, May 16. On Thursday, May 17, the prestigious tournament was filled to capacity with 156 golfers competing. A 10:00 a.m. shotgun start signaled the beginning of the 4-man scramble event. Golfers enjoyed fast, smooth greens with pristine fairways, and a variety of food and drink on the course. In an exciting “showdown,” the two teams tied for first place, Coca-Cola team and Imagine This team, competed in a scorecard playoff. Imagine This team won the playoff and its players were named the 2018 Chairman’s Cup champions. The tournament concluded with a lavish steak dinner at the awards ceremony.
The title sponsor for the 2018 Chairman’s Cup was Coca-Cola. Platinum sponsors were Imagine This and Zotto Mattress. Silver sponsors were First Class Tours, The Carson Group, In-Telecom and Supplyworks––A Home Depot Company.
The Chairman’s Cup Foundation is an independent 501c3 organization. The golf tournament is an annual fundraiser hosted by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and held at Koasati Pines at Coushatta championship golf course. Local and area businesses participate as sponsors with 100% of funds collected for the Foundation earmarked for donations to local and regional charities. Written requests for funding by Louisiana-based charitable and non-profit groups, organizations, or individuals in need are submitted to the Foundation Board for review.
