Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and Coushatta Casino Resort Donate $7,700 to St. Nicholas Center for Children

Benefiting Children on the Autism Spectrum and Their Families

June 2, 2021

KINDER, LA––During April 2021, Coushatta Casino Resort associates participated in a fundraiser to benefit a local non-profit organization, St. Nicholas Center for Children, whose mission is to transform the lives of children with autism, delays and disorders by providing therapy and family support.

Casino associates who wished to donate had the option to purchase specially designed t-shirts displaying a motivational message promoting autism awareness. Participating associates were allowed to wear their t-shirts with jeans as part of their uniform on designated days during the month. Through generosity and community spirit, casino associates raised a total of $7,700.

St. Nicholas Center representatives Brittany Schwem, Development Director, and Claire Rider, Development Relations, accepted the donation from Coushatta Tribal Vice-Chairman Kevin Sickey and Tribal Secretary/Treasurer Loretta Williams. They were joined by members of Coushatta Casino Resort management and staff for the presentation.

St. Nicholas Center offers a wide range of services including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Social Skills training, and diagnostic testing. Services are provided to children with autism, developmental delays, and neurological disorders in a fun, loving, and educational environment. Over 60 years of research demonstrate the effectiveness of ABA in increasing communication, social skills, and academic skills while decreasing problematic behaviors.
